The restless hunt of a Backpacker for a Accomodation and an old friend turns into a certain kind of a scavenger-hunt stalking szenario, revealing his true identity.
This Film is taking a look on the motivations which keep us traveling. Mostly people travel just to relax. But relaxation supposes in most cases that you have stopped looking for things, that you are able to allow yourself just to be. One delusion of self-discovery by traveling is, that you travel with a certain aim, with a purpose, which, when it comes to define, it often appears to be quite blurry.
The purposelessness is the only way to truly benefit from traveling, to gain a certain insight in life. The hustle and bustle of our modern civilization makes it hard to maintain an awareness for the small important hints, which mostly are so obvious, but get lost in the hectic pace which is so hard to escape.
The mythology of the endless recurrence, as Kundera says in "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" , tell us in its negation , that the once for all vanishing and hardly ever recurring life resembles a shadow.
The Protagonist, whom we join by the Point of view Camera on his restless hunt finally turns out to be a shadow of his own life and by this posing the question for what is to be the real life without negating it and what we leave behind on certain places during a journey.
Traveling and searching uprooted him and, though maybe having a home, a flat, a life it is impossible for him to go back until he realizes someday what the audience does in the end.

For creating the Point of view-aesthetics I build a cheap version of a steady-cam, an unsuspended contraption for a Camera made from an old abs-trainer and several pieces from fleamarkets and dingy cellar-rooms.
