Having seen Brazil at the 1982 World Cup and France win the EURO at home 2 years later, I should have had a clear-cut idea of what "beautiful football" was about. But I didn`t. - until one day in the spring of 1993 when I watched Barcelona play Werder Bremen in the 2nd leg of the UEFA Supercup at the Camp Nou in Barcelona.. What I saw was much more pleasing to the eye than either the Bundesliga or the Serie A which was vehemently hyped on German TV at that time when almost all outfield players of our national team were playing for Italian clubs.
