A Playthrough of the FreeSpace 2 Modification Dusk Wars Act 1 released by BTA in 2012, reimagined in 2013 and upgraded in 2014 on Insane Difficulty by Novachen. <br /> <br />You can download the current version of Dusk Wars here: <br />http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=88129.0 <br /> <br /> <br />Finally a new recorded playthrough. This time i am playing the first Act of Dusk Wars. A total conversion that does not have any relations to the FreeSpace universe storywise. <br />But gameplaywise it is true FreeSpace 2. To be correct, imagine Ancient-Shivan War with beam weaponary and many shivan crafts from the several modificiations. <br />The Bal'ran and Anshari Empires are old races, that are in war for centuries. But now the Anshari were capable to overrun the defenses of the Soci Sysytem and nearly conquered it. Because this system would open a pathway directly to the core systems, the Bal'ran Empire tries everything to push the Anshari out of Soci again. <br />As a new initiate we are part of this counteroffensive and our first mission is to secure the Soci Asteroid field, because it is an important position to be able to attack the Anshari blockade around Soci IV afterwards. <br /> <br /> <br />Hints: <br />The first mission is straightforward, but it can be hard if things goes wrong. <br />At the beginning attack the three Scorpion fighters, together with your wingmates, you should not have any problems to do so. <br />After the scorpions are dust, order your wingmates to form on your wing or to ignore the Lamia, because you can grab a cruiser kill right in the first mission if you are able to hit the Lamia once, before it is finished down by the Kos. <br />Regulary the Kos destroys the main beam of the Lamia, and is out of danger in this cruiser battle. But sometimes it happens that the Kos did not hit the Lamia main beam or even the Lamia is able to destroy Kos' main beam instead. If this happens, it is much easier to restart the mission, instead to handle with this new situation that makes even the first mission very hard. <br />After the Lamia is down, you and your wingmates have to handle with three wings, Chimeras, Scorpions and Shaitans in two waves each. Chimera wings should always have your highest priority. Because they appear mostly in larger groups and have strong weapons which can overwhelm you and your wing with ease. Fortunately these ships does not have any real shield and hull, so you can bring them down very fast. So destroy them as fast as possible and after that, kill the nearest enemies you can target before the second Chimera wing show up. <br />Now again attack the Chimera and kill them before they realize what happen. The Kos should have still enough hull that you should able to intercept and to destroy the remaining enemies. <br />Do not worry that your wingmates goes down, you will get reinforcements immediately, which should be able to kill all remaining Ansharis to bring the Kos through. <br />Also do not worry about the enemy bombs, you can destroy and intercept them even on close distances, they do not cause a deadly shockwave like their ASW counterparts. <br />After all enemies are dead, you can return to base to end this mission, after the Kos left the mission area. <br /> <br /> <br />Played and recorded by: <br />Jenna "Novachen" Trassa <br /> <br /> <br />Questions and Feedback in German and English would be appreciated, but is also possible in French, Spanish and Chinese, because my sister is able to read and understand it.
